Obituary for John P. Arnold D.V.M

Age 101, passed away on Feb. 8, 2012. Preceded in death by wife, Margaret. Survived by children: Mary Parenteau (Michael) and Phillip (Jan O’Donnell); grandchildren: Anne Parenteau, Elizabeth Kostuch (Chad), Christine McLaughlin (Ryan), Erin Thacker (Chris), and Ellen Kalk (Paul); great grandchildren: Carmen and Christian Kostuch, Theodore McLaughlin, Eva and Zoey Thacker. John graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, D.V.M. 1941, M.S. 1948. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1956. He joined the faculty at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota in 1950 and retired in 1976. During his tenure at the University of Minnesota, he was the chair of the Departments of Surgery and Radiology. John was active in the American Veterinary Medical Association and past president of the MN Veterinary Medical Association. He was a proud member of Garnet Masonic Lodge #166 and achieved the level of 33rd degree of the Scottish Rite. He was past president of the MN Genealogic Society and the MN Territorial Pioneers.
