Edward (Chris) Twar of Vadnais Heights, formerly of White Bear Lake, passed away on April 24, 2016 at the age of 88. Chris was preceded in death by his brothers: Chester, George, Harry, and Thomas Jr., and son Bernard Haugen.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, son of Thomas E Twarogowski and Anastasia Gozdziewicz. Chris was a lifetime educator, which included many years as a Christian Brother at Hill High School in Maplewood, MN. After leaving The Order he worked in the public education system, eventually retiring from the Stillwater Area School District in 1993.
As a lifelong educator, Chris will be remembered for his friendliness and the joy he found in meeting and visiting with other people. His caring and outgoing personality will be missed by all who knew him.
Survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Mary Boyce Twar. He is also survived by sons Christopher Haugen, Gregory Haugen (Ann), Mark Haugen (Kathy), Stephen Haugen (Teresa), and Thomas Haugen Jr. (Nancy), Grandchildren: Joseph, Anna, Jennifer, Eric, Daniel, Mark Jr., Marshall, Haakon, Ejnar, Brian, and Heather. A special thanks to all the friends and “family” at Perkins Restaurant.
In lieu of flowers memorials will be accepted in Chris’ honor to the Stillwater School District Partnership Plan at PartnershipPlan.org. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, April 30, at 11:00 AM at CHURCH OF ST. PIUS X, 3878 Highland Ave., WBL. Visitation Friday, April 29, 5-7 PM at HONSA FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2460 E. Cty Rd.
