Mary Glea Solberg Shaw, 92, of Mahtomedi, MN, formerly of Grand Rapids, MN passed away on November 10, 2016 in Shoreview, MN. Glea was born on March 10, 1924 to Ben and Clara (Dessin) Solberg in International Falls, MN. She graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing and the University of Minnesota with an RN and Public Health Nursing degree. Glea married David C. Shaw on April 24, 1948. She served as the Koochiching and Itasca County Nurse. Together, she and her husband owned and operated Shaw Florists in Grand Rapids. They purchased the Pokegama Hotel building and renovated it to become PHB apartments and retail space. Glea was active in the Community Presbyterian Church and she was a charter member of PEO Sisterhood Chapter DB. She also served on the Board and as Chairperson for the Itasca Community College Foundation. Glea was preceded in death by her husband David, daughter, Mary Janet, and son-in-law, Roger Magnuson. Survived by her children, Peggy (Paul) Fink of White Bear Lake, MN, Ginnie (John) Donner of Clara City, MN and Betsy Magnuson of Mahtomedi; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be on Saturday, November 26th, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Straitgate Church 638 East Franklin Avenue, Minneapolis. The family will receive friends for 1 hour prior to the service. Private family interment will be in Harris Township Cemetery, Grand Rapids, MN.
