Charlotte Marie Rimmereid
Age 86
Of Maplewood, MN
Peacefully died on December 29, 2016. Charlotte was born on June 21, 1930 in Wanamingo, MN to Torgney and Valborg (Nydahl) Kleven. During her childhood she lived in Ashland, WI, Battle Lake, MN and graduated from high school in Blanchardville, WI.
She met Art Rimmereid at Augsburg College where both sang in the choir. Upon graduation, she taught high school music and math for three years in North Branch. She married Art in the summer of 1955, moved to Minneapolis and worked at Schmitt Music for a year. From there they lived in Bisbee, ND, in Coon Rapids, Brainerd, and Moorhead before retiring in Maplewood, MN to be close to their children and grandchildren.
Faith and family were the cornerstones of her life, and she actively participated in both. She was intentional about her Christian faith, dedicated to serving and praying for others. She was a talented musician, playing the piano and organ, and often serving as choir director and/or organist.
For family, she was always there. First with her children. She did not miss their events. She also strove to attend as many of her grandchildren’s activities as possible. She made sure she gave each one the same attention and made sure they knew that. She particularly liked time at the family cabin in northern Wisconsin, which was the family gathering site during the summer. These times brought the family closer together and the 10 grandchildren into a tight-knit group of cousins. She loved the water. She swam regularly and always let out a scream when she first jumped in. She was particularly proud of water skiing until she was 70.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Art; children Paul (Jo), Bruce (Christa), Ann (Peter) Jacobson; grandchildren Peter (Janelle), Heather (Tom) Kopietz, Kendra (Dan Struck), Katelyn (Felix) Okoth, Sara, Daniel, Emily (Parker) Lawley, Jenna, Nathan, Lydia; great-grandchildren Adelle, Micah, Ellsie; brothers Lowell (Janice) Kleven and Jerome Kleven. She is preceded in death by sister Sylvia Hanson, brother-in-law Donald Hanson, sister-in-law Loretta Kleven.
