Survived by daughter Bethann; grandchildren Kristen, Daniel, and Erica; two great grandchildren; sister-in-laws Derrillis and Evelyn. Ron will be greatly missed by 16 nieces and nephews, over 30 great nieces and nephews; many stepchildren; friends; and the love of his life, Janice Olesen, spending over 16 years in marriage.
Ronald (Ronny to his nieces/nephews) was born on July 26, 1935 in St. Paul, MN. He returned to Minnesota on June 17 after living many years in Henderson, Nevada. He loved to play Blackjack and bet on the horses. He enjoyed the finest of all life had to offer. He served in the U.S. Navy and Korean War and proud to serve in the U.S.A. He was a Masonic Member and enjoyed Turner Classic Movies.
Uncle Ronny was excited to finally return home, but unfortunately only spent four days with us, before he passed away in his sleep. While the family is very sad and in shock over his sudden passing, we know that he is at peace and in a better place. He has joined his brothers and no doubt will have the best winning hand in heaven. He was loved dearly by all and despite his Danish stubbornness, and determination, he had a huge heart.
Services and burial will be held at Fort National Snelling on Tuesday, July 26, at 10:15 AM, Assembly Area #3. Please arrive at 10:00 AM. This day would have been his 81st birthday and he looked forward to claiming the rights of the “Oldest Living Olesen”. Please keep Ron in your prayers. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 24th, 11-2 PM, VFW #363, 109 Osborne Road, Fridley, MN 55403.
Arrangements are being made by Honsa Family Funeral Home, White Bear Lake, MN. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
