Dorothy was born in Nunda, South Dakota, on April 6, 1927, to Otto and Esther (Johnson) Austin. She was raised in Newman Grove, Nebraska. A graduate of St. Olaf College, Dorothy was married to Morris "Bo" Sorenson, Jr. from 1952 until his death in 1999. They served together as Lutheran missionaries in Japan from 1953 until 1965. She served as a teacher in Roseville, Minnesota public schools from 1970 until 1987. She was married to Bob Bergeson from 2002 until 2006. Dorothy is survived by her son Bob and his wife Jadranka and their son Deni and daughter-in-law Dorrie; her daughter Mary Ranum and her husband Michael Ranum and their daughters Emma and Ruth and her husband Nicholas Moen; her son Arne and his wife Ruth and their children Astri, Esther, Isaac and Lars; and her son Michael and his wife Lisa and their sons Nicholas and Luke. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016 at 11:00 am (visitation at 10:00 am) at REDEEMER LUTHERAN CHURCH at 3770 Bellaire Ave, White Bear Lake, MN. Any memorials should be sent to the Sorenson Family Scholarship Fund at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN.
