Thank you Camilla for sharing the love of Genealogy with me, and continuing, with me, this journey that Aunt Victoria got me started on years ago when I was very young. Just 4 months ago we were mailing each other articles and on the phone passing information back and forth and I even told you a few tidbits you didn't know. I will miss you and your humor. Love, Melanie

Aunt Camilla (AC) was always there, like a second Mom. From my earliest memories of watching JFK's funeral progression LIVE on TV, to our special 1:1 Cup of Christmas Tea celebrations (always Sassafras), to the recent discovery of a photo of her bouncing 'infant me' on her knee, she's always been part of my life. As her oldest nephew, I knew her the longest of my generation. Moving to Bald Eagle Lake in 1975 and being only 5 houses down the shore from each other, created a life lesson on the importance of dedication to family and mutual support for each other.

The strangest thing I remember about my AC is that she never seemed to be wearing any shoes. I chalked it up to being a "Lake Thing", until I quite recently read a poem that her mother wrote about her when she was just 3 years old. Here is an excerpt:
"...She Loses her shoes once a week, But her smile is hard to beat. Ten little toes must be aired every day, Or the world couldn't get on its way." .....Victoria Hubbard Lawrence, May 8, 1939

Soooo many more memories of her life lived well. She leaves an indelible imprint upon the memory of nearly everyone she had ever met. I will miss her greatly.

.......Stephen Lawrence Chase.
