Sorry to hear of Tom's passing. I attended Iowa at the same time that Tom was there. He let share his ride (Buick) many times back and forth from Iowa City to Mason City and back. While we lost track of each other through the years one never forgets great people that they have met. Rest in Piece Tom.

Tom and I graduated from St.Josephs High School in Mason City, Iowa in 1952. In addition, he and his family lived in our same neighborhood in Mason City, Iowa. Tom was a popular person with all of his classmates and was one of the better students in the class. Tom always worked, paper route, bottling works, etc. Tom had an outstanding career in the military and the private sector. it is to be noted that Tom could throw a baseball harder than anyone in the neighborhood. My condolence to Toms wife and family. God Bless.

We lived 100 yards from each other for decades in White Bear Lake. Of the many, many memories growing up on Bald Eagle Lake (ask me about the Hydroplane outboard motor sometime) I am most of fond of the times we went night skiing together at Wild Mountain. As a college student who was addicted to skiing, lift ticket money was tragically and notoriously under-funded in my weekly budget! Tom, and avid skier and Ski Patrol Officer, was always looking for a ski buddy on any given weeknight. Free Skiing is FREE and I took advantage of this as often as possible! It was during these times that I got to know Tom as a man, a servant, and as a friend.

One of my favorite memories of my Uncle Tom was when he would "buzz" our farm. He would fly very low over it to let us know it was him. Then we would all run out to the middle of the driveway to wave and he would pass over 3 or 4 more times...very low! He would tip his wings and fly away. Such a distinguished man with a twinkle in his eyes.
