Obituary for Robert Roger Brass

Robert Roger Brass age 91 of White Bear Lake, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on April 7, 2018. Bob was born on June 6, 1926 and united in marriage with Camille Podvin on June 9, 1951. Bob, a caring, loving man of integrity, was a proud World War II vet, owner of two Ben Franklin Stores in White Bear Lake, active in the Jaycee’s, Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, served on the Police Civil Service Commission and was instrumental in White Bear Lake being named All American City. Bob was an active life long fisherman and hunter who invented the famous “Bob Brass Duck Call”. He was a skilled wood worker who took great joy in making furniture of all kinds and was especially known for the wooden barns that he made for all the children in his family. Bob loved the trumpet and all kinds of trumpet music and played it almost to the end of his life. Robert (Bob) was preceded in death by parents, Fred and Theodora, brother Fred and wife Camille (Podvin). Survived by his brother Jim Brass (Judy), his four children, Mary Cay (Manny Mansbach) of Vermont, R. Thomas (Charlotte)of North Carolina, Megan Doyle (Dennis),Eden Prairie, Mike (Lisa) White Bear Lake, grandchildren, Rob and Rick Brass, Devin and Nathan Doyle and 4 great grandchildren. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday, 4-7pm at HONSA FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2460 East Country Road E, White Bear Lake, and from 10:30 am – 11:30 am prior to the mass at church. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am on Wednesday April 11, at ST. MARY OF THE LAKE, 4741 Bald Eagle Ave. White Bear Lake. Interment St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery.
