Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Rev. Alfred and Nicholas; sister, Dolores Engebretson. Survived by loving wife of 61 years, Jeannie, (Bromenschenkel); children, Sandy (Ralph) Wilkes, and Brad (Ann); grandchildren, Matt, Kyla, and Renita Wilkes, Ryan, Eric and Paul Heltemes; brother, Don (Darlene); sister-in-law, Barb; many brothers/sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. Gene attended St. John’s University, Collegeville , attained a PhD in physics from Iowa State, and had a 30 year career at 3M. He spent many good years fishing at the family cabin on Balsam Lake, WI. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 AM on Tuesday, May 8th, 2018 at CHURCH OF ST. PIUS X, 3878 Highland Ave., WBL. Visitation 5-8PM Monday, May 7, at HONSA FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2460 East County Road E, WBL and one hour before Mass at Church. Memorials preferred to Lewy Body Dementia Association (www.lbda.org) or St. Pius X Church.
