Dear Bob was one of a kind. He was witty & wise and his family meant everything to him. He and my husband John had a special friendship. He had a wonderful and long life. I know Bob and Irene’s family will miss them forever.

To Bob’s Family and Friends I’m saddened to learn of Bob’s passing.

I came to stay with Bob and Irene in 1975/1976 while I attended my senior year at Hill Murray High School. I look back on those days with great fondness especially when I think of the time I spent with Bob and Irene.

I recall the always-lively dinner conversations and how Bob would chuckle after making what he thought was the evening’s most insightful observation, even if Irene was of a different opinion.

I remember how Bob introduced me to classical music by inviting me to sit with him and Irene, as they sat in the living room before dinner with the paper on their lap, the first martini in hand and stereo more than a little loud. Sometimes by the second martini, Bob would become a bit animated, as if he were a conductor while giving “Wagner” more volume than needed.

Bob and Irene were two of the most enjoyable people I have had the pleasure to be among. For me, one of their most endearing qualities was their playfulness. I can remember one evening after dinner in January Bob insisted we take off our shoes and socks and race through the snow from the house to the backyard fence and back. Bob and Terry suggested in the strongest of terms that one would be a chicken if one didn't race. Of course, Irene was not racing but she was right in the mix promoting the event.

After the race Bob was saying something to the effect that Terry and I cheated, which I'm sure was his way of keeping the banter going as we washed dishes. Well, maybe Terry cheated?

These are but a few of many fond memories I have. I will always remember Bob and Irene for the kindness and affection they showed to me and for letting me be part of their family. Bob was a wonderful man and I’m sure his memories will stay with all of us forever in our hearts. May his soul rest in peace and may the Ulrich Family and Friends take comfort in knowing he had a good and long life. Now he can rest in Heaven with Irene.

God Bless You, Bob.

We just learned of Bob's passing. We last visited him about three years ago. Butch tells: one of my favorite memories was golfing 54 holes in one day with Bob at Cragun's when we were at a PDCA convention in Brainerd. We laughed our way the entire time as we played, not caring how we scored. Bob and I worked together in sales at Lathrop's for many years. He was always happy-go-lucky. i and my wife, Gail, always enjoyed times with both Bob and Irene. We have many happy memories of both of them. Sending our heartfelt condolences.- Butch and Gail Cowdin, 11 Kirkpatrick Ct., Bella Vista, AR 72715
