Della Jean Setterlund passed away on May 11, 2019 in Mahtomedi, MN. Preceded in death by her husband Chester who passed away on December 17, 2009 and her son Ralph who passed away on April 10, 2018. Della Jean Layman was born July 3, 1921 in Graceville, MN. She attended school there and married Chester W. Setterlund of Elbow Lake on March 4, 1942. She is survived by her remaining children Mary Alice (Robert) Chagnon of Cecil, WI, Kermit (Corinne) of Brooklyn Park, MN and Patricia (Dirk) Hample of Mahtomedi, MN; 6 grandchildren, Amy (Jesse) Crowe, Tracy Chagnon, Brett Setterlund, Brianne (Joey) Hutman, Blair (Chris) Bond, and Drew (Travis) Rohl; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters Mary Ann (Marv) Weick, Joan Wawers, Claire (Alvin) Beck; and many nieces and nephews. Jean lived a good share of her middle life in North Dakota while her children were growing up. She was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eastern Star. After her husband retired they spent many winters in their second home in Mesa, Arizona before moving back to Minnesota. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Thursday, May 30th, 2019 at ST. ANDREW’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 900 Stillwater Road, Mahtomedi. Visitation will be one hour before service at church. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Elbow Lake, MN. Memorials will be given in her name to the American Legion Auxiliary Scholarship Fund.
