Obituary for Kathryne Norma "Kay" Handevidt (McKinnon)

Kathryne Handevidt Age 98 Of Stillwater Passed away peacefully on June 7, 2021. Kay had a great love of music, starting as an organist at age 15 at Hazel Park Congregational Church on the east side of St Paul until she and Gordy moved to Stillwater in 1954. She then became an organist at Trinity Lutheran Church for 20 years. Kay also worked as a teacher’s aide at Stillwater High School for 20 years. She loved being at school when her 4 sons were students. Being as active as she was, she enjoyed her volunteer work after she retired. She drove for meals on wheels, drove people with disabilities to appointments, delivered groceries and distributed Christmas gifts to the needy. Kay began volunteering at Lakeview Hospital in 1984 and continued until 2004. She accumulated 1,500 hours and received many volunteer awards. While Gordy was in hospice care, the hospice association would send a volunteer to sit with him so she could volunteer for four hours at the hospital. Kay loved to travel. She and Gordy made it a point to visit all 50 states. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordy; daughter, Sandy; and son, Dan. Kay is survived by her children Sue (Jim) White, Todd (Sandy Hohler), Dale (Sue Griffith), and Tim (Mary); son in law Robert Gosso; grandchildren Rande, Ryan, Jennifer, Hayley, Charlie, Cole, Justin, Kayla, and Savanna; many great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
