Well, I’ll be dipped. The World’s Best Grandpa (known to others as Fredrick Joseph Kaschmitter) age 87, from White Bear Lake, MN, ended his earthly jaunt after a short illness—but was surrounded by laughter, love, and family until the very end. Preceded in death by wife of 32 years, Joyce, sister Arlene, and brother Dick. Survived by children; Polly (Tony) Zais and Patty (Steve) Youngquist; grandchildren Dan, Kelly (Cody), Sarah, Tory (Jeremy), Leah, Jenna, and Amanda; great grandchildren Eli, Claire, Benjamin, Colton; siblings Isabelle, Marilyn, Evelyn, Mike, Bonnie, Susie, Carol, Jolene and Larry; wife Lois; son Mick.
Proof of a life well lived: Bookmarked joke books. Left handed mugs. Donut mornings. Bus stop drop-offs. Worm burners on the golf course. Hidden coins in penny loafers. Laffy Taffy. Using the bell to call a “family meeting” with blackberry brandy. The red clown nose. Baseball caps. An unwavering love for Minnesota sports. Lemon drops. A jailbreak to Jimmy’s. Quiche. Never missing a track meet, dance recital, horse show, school program, gymnastics meet, or baseball game. A Miller Lite and a classic Hershey’s candy bar.
Jeepers, we’ll sure miss you. All your days were hero days.
