Died August 18th, 2022 at his home.
Robert John William Aakhus was born on December 21, 1977 in Heidelberg, Germany. He attended grade school in Munich, Germany and Riverside, CA, Bemidji Middle School in Bemidji, MN and Highland Park High School in St Paul, MN. Robert also known as “Rob, Bob, RJ” was a soft-spoken gentle soul, with a ready smile and wonderful sense of humor. Robs love for family and friends truly shined thru at gatherings and celebrations. He treasured the times playing games, eating his favorite food “Hamburgers”, fishing, boating, hanging out with his friends, and special times playing cards with his grandmother Mary Jane. Rob loved the calm and peaceful feeling of strolling the beach and being on the water, so going for pontoon rides at his Aunt Sharon and Uncle Ray’s home was a pleasant bonus. Rob felt honored being a son, brother, cousin, friend, and took great pride in being an uncle to his nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his grandparents; Robert and Mary Jane Johnson formerly from Columbia Falls, MT and Bemidji, MN, and John A. Aakhus formerly from Fosston, MN. Cousin; Derek Tate Hedstrom of Bemidji, MN. Robert is survived by his mother; Cindy (Peg Dellwo) of St Paul, MN; father; Jeffrey Aakhus of Bemidji, MN; brothers, Jack (Angela) of Bemidji, MN, and Daniel of Boone, NC; grandparents; William and Diane Easton of Bemidji, MN; stepmother Belle of Boone, NC; many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and his young nieces and nephews.
Cremation arrangements were provided by Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home in Bemidji, MN.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, October 8th, 2022 at Honsa Family Funeral Home in White Bear Lake, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
