Obituary for Leonard Henry Rubbert

Rubbert
Leonard Henry

Passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on February 24th, 2023 and was joyfully reunited with his parents Francis (Markgraf) and Henry Rubbert, his brother Norman, his beloved son Paul Christopher and his treasured grandson, Christopher Paul Nelson. Len will be missed by sons, Tim (Whitefish, Montana) and Terry Rubbert and daughter Debby (Brad) Nelson. He leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Len served his country in the Navy towards the end of WW 2 and was employed most of his adult life as a design engineer at 3M and an electronics instructor at St Paul Technical and Vocational Institute. He was the individual who could fix almost anything and was called upon by friends and neighbors to install and repair anything electric. Len taught all his children to ski at a young age and enjoyed alpine and cross-country skiing well into his seventies. His very favorite way to spend time was at his summer home on Blueberry Lake near Hayward Wisconsin- fishing, swimming, and puttering around. He was a pioneer in amateur videography and spent hours recording his travels and the exploits of his grandchildren. He instilled in his children a love for the outdoors and wildlife and was proud that they chose to share their passions with others.

A short service to honor Leonard will be held 10 AM Monday, April 17, 2023 at HONSA FAMILY FUNERAL HOME,  2460 East County Rd E, White Bear Lake. Visitation following the service from 10:30-11:30 AM. Many thanks to the staff from Brighton Hospice and New Perspectives, Mahtomedi who provided Len with loving and kind care in his final years.
